          The villa of John of Ephesus

            John of Ephesus had received a villa as gift from the praepositus sacri cubiculi Callinicus. He narrates in EH 2.41 that he spent a lot of money for turning this villa into a monastery, but also that he had to give it up during the persecution of the 570s.
