In hagiography: Samuel of Qartmin was from Eshtin near Mardin. He founded the monastery of Qartmin, with the help of an angel who delineated it for him. His disciple was Simeon of Qartmin. He performed numerous miracles; he brought an end to a plague over Ḥaḥ.
