“Parts of the Alexandrian clergy were enraged when they heard about the ordination of Theodore as patriarch in 575 and decided to elect someone else. Their first candidate was Andronicus, an cleric only known from Joh. Eph., EH 4.11, but it soon turned out that he would not be accepted by the population. Hence, they decided to make Peter patriarch.” 2
