“Originally belonging to the staff of the convinced miaphysite Andreas, sacellarius of the empress Sophia, Probinus developed into one of the fiercest persecutors of the miaphysites. Joh. Eph., EH 2.38, narrates that he himself and his fellow miaphysites repeatedly suffered from Probinus, who imprisoned them and robbed their property.” 2
