Anonymous 5200 - The archdeacon of Rome

The bishop of Rome had an apocrisiarius, a representative, in Constantinople. This cleric often had the rank of archdeacon. Joh. Eph., EH 2.32, attests that this representative of the Roman church took issue with Eutychius' return to the patriarchate in 577.1
