“Scribe and bp. for various dioceses. He was born Yuḥanon b. Shahīn b. Shamo of Amid, also nicknamed b. al-ʿAraqjanji 'son of the maker of ʿarraqiyya (a small cap worn under a turban to absorb sweat)'.” 1
