ܛܘܒܢܐ ܡܿܢ ܗܢܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܒܪ ܓܢܣܐ ܝܕܝܥܐ ܘܪܒܐ ܘܥܬܝܪܐ. ܘܟܕ ܠܟܢܫ ܕܒܓܢܣܗ ܥܡ ܐܒ̈ܗܘܗܝ ܡܝܬܘܢ̣. ܐܫܬܒܩ ܒܝܬܐ ܟܠܗ ܘܥܘܬܪܐ ܥܠ ܐܝ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܕܗܢܐ̣. ܘܐܦ ܥܠ ܐܝ̈ܕܝ ܒܪ ܓܢܣܗ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܩܫܝܫ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ. 1
Ce bienheureux apparteanait à une grande famille célèbre et riche; quand tous les membres de sa famille, y compris ses parents, furent morts, toute la maison et la richesse furent laissées dans ses mains et dans les mains d’un autre membre de la famille, plus âgé que lui. 1

ܘܒܥܡ̈ܠܐ ܥ̈ܦܝܦܐ ܡܟܝ ܚܠܦܝܗܘܢ̣ ܢܦܫܗ ܟܕܢ. ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܫ̈ܢܝܐ ܫܒܥ̣. ܗܦܟܢܢ ܠܘܬܗ̣. ܘܗܟܢܐ ܒܕܘܒܪ̈ܐ ܚܣ̈ܝܢܐ ܐܫܟܚܢܝܗܝ. ܘܗܟܢܐ ܫܠܡ ܒܢܨܚܢܐ ܪܒܐ. 1
Et il se soumit à partir de ce moment à des travaux doubles, à tel point qu’après une période de sept ans nous revînmes chez lui et nous le trouvâmes ainsi menant une vie dure et il finit ainsi dans un grand triomphe. 1
