Abstract
The Four Gospels (Old Syriac version)
are the earliest extant
translation of The Four Gospels (literary tradition)
into Syriac as "separated Gospels"
(not a Gospel harmony). They were probably translated in the 4th or 5th century
(though their roots may date to the 3rd), and they predate The Four Gospels (Peshitta
version)
, which
ultimately replaced them in the 5th or 6th century.7
