ܡܢ ܐܝܟܐ ܐܬܝܬ ܠܘܬܢ. ܐܘ ܪܚܡܐ ܘܚܒܪܐ. ܡܢ ܐܣܛܘܐ ܡܠܟܝܐ ܐܘ ܬܡܝܗܐ: ܐܬܝܬ ܕܝܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܘܬܟ̣. ܟܕ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܠܦ ܡܛܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܫܐܠܟ. 1
D’où viens-tu vers nous, âmi et compagnon? De la stoa royale, homme admirable, je suis venu jusqu’à toi en désirant m’instruire à propos de ce que je veux te demander. 1

ܣܐܘܝܪܐ ܗܘ ܛܒܝܒܐ̣. ܦܝܣܝܕܝܐ ܡܢ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܒܓܢܣܐ. ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܗܢܐ̣. ܣܘܙܘܦܘܠܝܣ. ܗܕܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܛܬܗ ܒܬܪ ܗܝ ܩܕܡܝܬܐ̣. ܕܡܢܗ ܟܠܢ ܡܛܠ ܡܬܥܒܪܢܘܬܗ ܕܐܕܡ ܢܦܠܢܢ. 1
Sévère était de race pisidienne; sa ville était Sozopolis. Celle-ci en, en effet, lui échut après la première dont nous sommes tous tombés après la transgression d’Adam. 1

Je mettrai un terme à ce récit que j’ai fait, exhorté par toi, pour la gloire de notre grand Dieu et de notre Sauveur Jésus-Christ, qui est la matière, le début et la fin de toute crainte de Dieu et de toute histoire vraie. 1
